Daphna Horowitz

Dear Sheila,

I would really like to thank you so much for your time and generosity in mentoring me to get my PCC. I know that the support, encouragement, advice and tips you shared with me were invaluable in my learning journey and enabled me to go for my PCC with complete confidence. You challenged me in our interactions in a way that benefitted me in my coaching practice as well as enabled me to pass my exams – oral, written and recording. I would not hesitate to recommend you as a mentor coach to anyone who wishes to be successful in their journey towards ICF accreditation.

All the best

AMAZING things have opened up for me since our coaching, Sheila, and from creating a new way for myself. Are you sitting down? My current client added on a new person to the team, so I'm now coaching a team of 4. I got 2 referrals and subsequently had 2 complementary coaching sessions yesterday. A woman I had met a NAWBO, remembered I was a Sales Coach and left a message asking me if I would speak next year at the National Association of Professional Organizers on Sales Techniques. I met with a networking contact who runs a business school and there may be interest in me training some of the students. After calling, and calling, and calling a prospect for months, I finally called him and told him I had a referral for him. Today when I called him again, he took my call and we have a 2nd appointment scheduled in 2 weeks. When I took the attention off me, look what happened!

All of this opened up because I distinguished an area of my life that was blocking me from enjoying life, and then created a new way I could be with people and in my life. I'm now more interested in focusing on them and then on me, and the results are incredible. I feel really good!

Sheila's coaching helped me to look inward even more than I ever had before and out of that came a greater appreciation for my boss, my job and my life in general. It has led me to an attitude of gratitude instead of looking at what's wrong with things outside me, and I am able to love myself with all my imperfections and see myself as perfect already.

Sheila, thank you so much for your coaching. I have since done two other presentations and I received very positive feedback. More importantly, your coaching has helped me tremendously in my public speaking with regard to national scientific data presentations, and instructional courses.

Sheila is amazing: logical yet emotional, powerful yet gentle, full of wisdom while always learning, guiding without pushing, a great business coach and friend. If you’ve wanted to find a way to be more effective, persuasive, motivated, gratified, or whatever . . . Sheila can help you find your way. Every CEO, in fact every manager, could benefit by having a coach like Sheila (and the rest of the organization then benefits as well).

Sheila Kutner is my coach. I don't get it. How can anyone live life without a coach if they are still alive and desire the best life they can have. Maybe that's the difference in people ... those who think they have the best vs. those who actually do ... and have coaches. I know that is true for me!

My Coaching experience with Sheila is directly linked to my success. I was in a lucrative job for a large medical company and I had reached a plateau. Sheila worked with me to make a plan and define my plan to reach my new goals. It only took three months and I now have my own business that is really challenging me. It took me six months to exceed the salary I was making at J & J.

I had lost the ability to focus on the relevant; my performance was suffering and I was losing my sense of self-assurance. Sheila was able to provide me guidance, the personal tools and the objective feedback I needed to deal with this situation. Real personal change can seem to take forever, but Sheila kept reminding me that even small accomplishments can reap large personal benefits. And they continue to do so.

Sheila,

Let me first say thanks for a wonderful time and a fascinating journey. You have helped me improve my communication skills immensely. You first helped me get into the right mind set by clarifying goals in a conversation. The statements "No stake in the result" and "what we resist persists" have become a mantra for me. I still remember the thrill and sense of accomplishment when I called my father simply with the intent to explain that his comments from a prior conversation had caused me much stress. I didn't go into it with the goal of proving myself right, or getting him to admit that he was wrong. Just getting the issue off my chest was such a huge relief. I described this sort of dilemma to you as the "doormat" vs. "%#&%*" choice. You have helped me find a third way that asserts my own emotional needs without trampling on the needs of others. You have helped me develop practical and specific behaviors that improve the richness of my communications. You have modeled the skills of paraphrasing and the positive specific "you" messages to me.

I have listened to you be a living example of these techniques and it has given me an appreciation for their power. You are extremely focused and present in our conversations. As I talk to you I feel like I am your only client and that your entire attention is dedicated to me. I still have a lot of practicing to do and as you have pointed out, we are always learning. But now I see the vision of how good it can be so I have a clearly visualized goal to shoot for. I believe that once we know something is possible it becomes achievable. I think that the gift you have given me is that I can picture the potential "me" who is a fantastic communicator and listener.

I plan to call each month, to let you know that we are on track and have incorporated all that you taught us last year. Even, I am doing great... I think before I speak, (most of the time) and we are implementing meaningful programs. More to follow later. Finally, i want you to know that your investment with us, has paid off.... Ya know, Sheila, there aren't many people roaming this globe who can verbally engage and exhaust me. I'm thrilled that you're one of them.

In just three months, you've managed to give me more focus, options and affirmations than the other professionals with whom I've met. The minute I shared my thoughts on duty and responsibility - and how I felt a commitment to keeping the family together - the others verbally applauded my morals and did everything to keep me locked into that mindset.

Not you. You shrugged it off, saying you weren't sure if my happiness lay in or out of construct. That's open minded. It doesn't make presumptions. And it doesn't close off options.

I'm glad you've been mentally engaged by our sessions. Then again, condensing two years of "lessons" into three months hardly leaves you time to doze off.

Have a WONDERFUL holiday weekend. I'll see you on Tuesday.

I did want to tell you again how very much I appreciate the coaching you've been doing with me. It really has been a fun and learning experience. I am actually feeling like I'm expanding my brain and my horizons and my "happy gene". I still don't understand how you "know" the thing to say and you always seem to be right on point. I am hopeful that I will be able to pass along forward the learnings to my colleagues here so they can feel the great power and excitement that comes from enjoying one's work. I do get that its ok to take joy in the moment and tomorrow will still bring whatever its going to bring!

You're awesome!

Sheila is able to cut to the heart of any situation quickly and recognize underlying issues that others may overlook. During our 8 year relationship, she has continually demonstrated an ability to assess people and identify areas on which to concentrate.  Sheila has the ability to discover an individual’s potential, nurture it, and give that person the resources needed to combine skills and talents into successful solutions.

For me, learning is a life long experience. Sheila’s coaching style has helped me visualize how and where to focus this learning process during each step of my career. Sheila is truly an amazing coach, mentor, advocate, and friend.
